I am a vulnerable, stupid, little creature – simultaneously helpless, hilarious, and culpable.
I infuse this spirit into my work by holding a magnifying glass to the visceral embarrassment, anxiety, and absurdity that colors everyday life.
I paint masculine figures facing humiliation and existential crises on polyester mesh and canvas, rendering flimsy portraiture and awkward compositions transparent and vulnerable. Using open-ended narratives and emotive bodies informed by niche, found imagery, and the workings of my anxious imagination, I elicit pity, disgust, and empathy for my figures. I am serious about the ridiculous.
